Canadians Report Higher Levels of Dating Fraud Attempts
A TransUnion survey found that almost 12% of Canadian respondents had experienced or suspected digital fraud online, including on dating platforms. Generative AI and deepfakes are among some of the most distinct tools uses in this fraud, although “classic” methods like stolen credit cards and fraudulent charges were reported in more than 25% of cases, far higher than the global average of only 19%.
