For its latest campaign, drinks brand Captain Morgan has joined Tinder, dishing out dating tips and drink recipes to those who swipe right.
The rum brand, manufactured by Diageo, recently placed a number of promotional profiles for The Captain on the Hollywood dating app that singles can swipe left or right.
The pirate’s profile reads: “Fun maker. Karaoke instigator. Dance floor creator. Original/Spiced/Fun. Meet you at the bar!”
And if you match with The Captain, singles are sent a message that reads: “Hi, I have dating advice and you have dates. Let’s come together and make your life easier. Watch how to navigate Tinder like a Captain”.
They are then linked to a new series of Captain Morgan video ads on YouTube where The Captain gives singles advice and dating tips.
Back in 2014, Diageo started a campaign that called on consumers to post photos, videos or messages to social media sites like Twitter, Facebook & Vine showing them living “like a captain”, using the hashtag #LikeACaptain.
The person who the drinks brand felt best embodied The Captain’s spirit was awarded $10,000.
Like the previous campaign, the company’s latest marketing stunt has also generated a lot of chatter on social media:
