CERCA Rebrands with Focus on Connections and Trusted Dating
CERCA, the dating app that connects users through mutual friends rather than anonymous strangers, has unveiled a comprehensive rebrand designed by New York-based creative studio Saint-Urbain. The refresh aims to visually and tonally reinforce CERCA’s core proposition: safer, more intentional romance built on existing social trust and proximity.
In a crowded dating app market dominated by swipe-based matching and algorithmic opacity, CERCA has long differentiated itself by leveraging users’ real-world networks. The new identity, developed by Saint-Urbain, aligns the brand’s look and feel with that unique positioning.
The updated visual system features bold, confident typography set against a restrained black-and-white palette. Creative director Alex Ostroff explained the intent: “We wanted the brand to feel as assured as the idea itself – confident, human, and unmistakable in public space.” Rather than adopting the soft pastels or romantic filters common in the category, CERCA’s design conveys clarity and strength, emphasizing grounded, trustworthy connections.
To balance the typography’s assertiveness, Saint-Urbain introduced a loose, line-drawn illustration style capturing moments of curiosity, vulnerability, and closeness. Candid photography further grounds the brand in everyday authenticity, prioritizing intimacy over polished perfection.
