Dating Industry Expects Significant Activity Increase on ‘Dating Sunday’

The online dating world is getting ready for ‘Dating Sunday’, statistically the busiest day for online dating activity in the entire year.

Experts believe singles treat the new year as a chance to find a partner in time for Valentine’s Day, after spending the Christmas period alone.

Dating Sunday will fall on January 6th 2018. OkCupid is anticipating a 70% increase in user activity.

OkCupid CMO Melissa Hobley said to Bustle: “The New Year is a great time to start fresh with how you approach online dating – it’s the perfect opportunity to begin the year with confidence and excitement.

“January is truly the best time to join. We see a huge surge in great people looking for love this time of year; people that care about what you care about. Dating is fun after all!”

Other dating companies also see an influx of new users on their sites – Coffee Meets Bagel revealed a 75% rise in signups over the last few years.

On Dating Sunday 2017, Hinge saw a more modest, but still significant, 22.5% growth in activity.

Bustle is encouraging dating app users to update their profiles with high quality photos and a well thought out bio. OkCupid has found that only a third of people will edit their profile after initially creating it.

Tinder will be hoping for a successful Dating Sunday as its number of Facebook logins continues to fall.
