happn Unveils Timeline Feature and New Premium Subscription Tier

Dating app happn is set to launch a new design for its timeline, as well as a new premium subscription tier.

The timeline change aims to make profiles clearer and the app easier to use.

Pictures will be larger while users browse, and it will now be possible to look through a single’s photos without entering their profile.

The subscription service will allow users to see who has liked their profile, and will provide access to other features to help increase interaction.

Julie Prieur, Product Director at happn explains: “We listen to our users and one key piece of feedback that we received time and time again was the fact that the pictures on a timeline just weren’t big enough.

“Therefore, we decided to improve the users’ experience by redesigning our timeline. We have also increased the visibility of the “Like” and “Say Hi” buttons to encourage engagement amongst profiles and we hope these developments go down very well with our users.”

The new design will retain popular happn features, including the ‘See You There’ feature that encourages users to meet in real life locations.

Over the course of 2018, happn is hoping to reestablish crossing paths at the heart of its brand.

One move to bring back the feeling of serendipity is only giving the opportunity for interaction after a crossing:

“(…) from now on, when a happner decides to Like or “Say Hi” to a profile, it disappears until users cross paths again. Therefore, happn stays true to its motto and prompts its users into taking every opportunity!”

CEO Didier Rappaport has said his app will “massively implement artificial intelligence” this year.
