Meeno: Renate Nyborg’s Latest Relationship Project

Renate Nyborg, the former CEO of Tinder, is spearheading a new platform called Meeno. Previously known as Amorai, the Meeno platform is an AI-powered personal relationship mentor.

Meeno is on a mission to address issues of widespread loneliness, a challenge that often affects young people. The platform, targeting users around 18 – 30 years old, wants to help this generation to enhance their social connection skills.

Simply put, Meeno is powered by AI. It harnesses the power of large language models (LLMs), such as OpenAI, but has also been trained by relationship experts and clinicians.

In a statement, Nyborg clarifies “Meeno is your personal mentor. Not a virtual girlfriend, boyfriend, clinical therapist, or coach”.

She makes it clear that the platform will feel “different from public LLMs. Meeno makes space for you to be heard, to be seen, and to feel secure sharing what’s really going on in your life”. As part of that, it offers time-limited tasks around important relationship moments: including breakups, dating, and making friends.

As a company, Meeno has undergone several funding rounds, raising USD $5 million as of September 2023. These funds will go towards further development of the platform’s machine learning capabilities and the building of the mobile app.

Residents of the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and Netherlands have the opportunity to pre-order Meeno and join its waitlist. Those who sign up before January 31st 2024 will be rewarded with 12 months of Meeno Premium.
