MM Dating Raises £600k in Latest Seed Round

MM Dating, a platform that specialises in supporting singles from African, Caribbean and African-American communities, has raised £600,000 in its latest seed round.

The platform received financial support from a number of investors, including from early-stage investment firm SFC Capital.

The funding raised in this round will go towards expanding the platform’s team, upgrading app features, and further marketing in notable cities, TechRound reports.

MM is split into two key areas: organising IRL events and its traditional dating app system. So far, the platform has overseen over 2 million matches.

In a recent LinkedIn post, MM Dating’s CEO Dayo Israel wrote: “We’ve taken the time to listen to our members on providing a more fulfilling experience not just for dating but to also network and meet new people with similar interests (loneliness is on the rise!). So we are merging our app with exciting and diversified real life events and experiences to help members meet people while doing the things they enjoy.”

“We’re really excited by our latest iteration and we’re driven to keep pushing harder to achieve the next milestones on our journey”, Israel added.

To mark Black History Month, Apple highlighted MM Dating as part of its focus on platforms created by the UK and Ireland’s Black communities. You can read GDI’s coverage of Apple’s initiative here.
