The Meet Group Announces COVID Dating Preferences Feature

The Meet Group is going to introduce a new preference feature, which will initially launch on MeetMe. The update will allow daters to select if, how, and where they want to meet matches as COVID-19 lockdown restrictions are eased.

MeetMe users will have the option to list their in-person dating preferences on their profile, selecting from options such as virtual dates, meeting outdoors, indoor with masks, open to discussion, or not concerned.

CEO Geoff Cook said in a statement: “Many of our members want to meet, though only under certain circumstances, while others are simply not concerned at all. At The Meet Group, we strive to create a safe environment for our members at all times.

“As part of our efforts, we formed the Safer Dating Advisory Board to help provide our members with safe dating tips, and now, through the launch of this feature, we hope to create a more transparent environment for the millions seeking love and connection on our dating apps.”

In a survey of users, 79% agree that it would be helpful to see dating preferences on the profiles of potential dates. 81% of respondents also said they would be willing to go on a first date tomorrow if the necessary precautions were met.

The survey also found that women are taking the restrictions more seriously. Just over half of women wouldn’t go on a date with someone who didn’t share their current dating preferences, compared to just 28% of men.

The new COVID feature will also be released soon on The Meet Group’s other subsidiaries, Skout, Tagged and GROWLr, in the coming months.
