Tinder France Announces Charity Drag Competition

6 months before the Olympics kick off in Paris, Tinder is hosting its own competition in the city. The dating app is partnering with HIV charity Sidragtion to host ‘The Drag Games’, a public competition taking place on the 26th and 27th of January.

The Drag Games is set to welcome Drag Queen hosts from across the country as it celebrates inclusion & diversity, as well as raising money for the fight against HIV.

The 26th of January will be the competition’s opening ceremony, which will include musical acts, DJ sets, and performances from Drag Queens.

The 27th will be the competition day, where the public will be able to take part in a series of sporting tasks, including handbag-throwing, relay races with heels, and more. Throughout the day there will be meet-and-greets, performances, merchandise sales, and more.

The profits from the event’s ticket sales, as well as other revenue from the event, will be donated to Sidragtion’s charitable work in the area of HIV support.

“We are working on a daily basis at Tinder to recognise and highlight the initiatives of all those who, everywhere in France, are concretely committed to all diversities. And that will be our commitment to launching this fund because diversity, equity and inclusion are much more than values, they are fundamentals,” said Benjamin Puygrenier, spokesperson for Tinder France.

“Reducing HIV awareness and raising funds for Sidaction is the mission of our association. Every year we manage to raise more than EUR 20,000 for Sidaction. With the help of the French Tinder team, we can dream bigger, go beyond and create a significant event to bring our communities together, celebrate diversity and inclusion and together hope to raise more money,” adds Minima Gesté, one of the founders of the Sidragtion association.
