Australian startup Urban Swan, which specialises in providing unique date experiences, received $2 million in seed funding. The funding is led by Antler, who has invested twice before in the startup, as well as a number of anonymous angel investors.
The platform currently focuses its operations in Sydney, with this investment helping services expand to other cities in Australia in the next year.
A report by SmartCompany also states that Urban Swan is looking to develop an app version of its platform, as it currently only operates as a website. However there is no set date for this expansion yet.
Urban Swan provides interesting experiences for dates beyond the usual restaurants or bars. Some of the most popular experiences it offers include pottery classes, infrared saunas and axe throwing.
According to the platform, 72% of its users are aged between 18-35 and are willing to spend AUD $150 per experience. It already has users in the hundreds of thousands, with month-on-month repeat purchases growing by 250% in 2022.
“We’ve been impressed with Urban Swan’s traction in curating unique dating experiences for thousands of couples across Sydney in under a year and Antler is pleased to back their national expansion with follow-on investment” said Cath Rogers, partner at Antler.
