AI Dating Features Remain Popular Going Into 2025

Dating apps are on the verge of a significant transformation as companies embrace AI features at the tail end of the year, with major industry players like Match Group keeping AI as a major part of how their platforms function. While currently mostly limited to individual features like bio generation or photo touch-ups, AI tools will likely become even more efficient and powerful from 2025 onwards.

At a recent investor event, Hinge CEO Justin McLeod outlined plans to eventually deploy AI for smarter matchmaking, personalized algorithms, and dating coaching. AI is already making an impact in areas like photo selection, as seen with Tinder, and safety features, such as Bumble’s AI tools that blur explicit images and detect fake profiles.

The dating landscape has seen little change since Tinder popularized the swipe feature over a decade ago, leaving room for disruption as user dissatisfaction with the traditional style of dating app grows. AI systems have provided a way for the “boring parts” of dating – swiping for matches, thinking of good first messages, crafting a decent profile – to be effectively skipped or streamlined for quicker and more meaningful connections.

Even individual users are increasingly embracing on AI, with a large portion of men turning to ChatGPT and similar tools to make their online profiles better. The rise of the idea of an AI wingman has only made this change more obvious, and once the technology is improved enough, these wingmen may become a staple of the online dating space.
