ARCHER Introduces ‘Ice Breakers’ to Simplify Conversations on Dating App
Dating app ARCHER has launched a new feature aimed at making first interactions easier and more engaging. The Ice Breakers tool allows users to add fun and thought-provoking questions to their profiles, giving potential matches an easy way to start conversations.
The feature is designed to help users move past the initial awkwardness of messaging on dating apps. Instead of struggling to come up with an opening line, a match can simply respond to an Ice Breaker, and their answer will appear as a message – creating a more natural way to initiate conversations.
Users can choose from a variety of Ice Breaker prompts, ranging from lighthearted and playful to more meaningful and personal – from “If I handed you an aux cord right now, what song are you playing first?” to “Describe your favorite sex position using only emojis.” These same ice breakers were tested in-person as part of a small promotional campaign about them.
ARCHER is also incentivizing the use of Ice Breakers by boosting the visibility of profiles that include them. This means users who add a prompt will have a higher chance of being discovered by others on the app, essentially giving them an advantage in searches if they take the gamble on using these prompts to find matches.
Early results suggest the feature is having a significant impact. Users with Ice Breakers are three times more likely to receive a response than those without, reflecting a growing preference for structured but spontaneous engagement on dating platforms. The new feature comes as ARCHER experiences a surge in user engagement, with a reported tripling of dates since December.
