Social Site Hood Forms AI-Driven Matchmaking Site Knot.Dating

Hood, a pseudonymous social networking platform that gained attention on Shark Tank India, has pivoted to the matchmaking space with what appears to be a standalone platform – or possibly a full replacement. Soon to be operating as Knot.Dating, the new app aims to cater to India’s top-earning singles through an invite-only matrimonial service.

The startup, which previously raised over $3.2 million in funding, claims to leverage artificial intelligence and professional matchmakers to connect individuals based on strict vetting criteria. According to its website, Knot.Dating will primarily serve professionals from prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, BITS Pilani, and MIT. Unlike traditional matrimonial platforms, the company emphasizes a user-led approach to matchmaking before family involvement.

“We’re not just building another matrimony app. Our focus is on working professionals who are serious about finding a partner who wants to take the lead in their own journey before involving their families,” Hood co-founder and CEO Jasveer Singh stated in a LinkedIn post.

While specific details on how the platform differentiates itself remain limited, the company claims that profiles will not be publicly visible and will only be shown to those who meet user preferences. Currently, the service operates on a waitlist basis for those seeking an invite, and the team are actively looking for employees to help develop the platform furniture.

It remains unclear whether Hood, originally founded by Singh, Abhishek Asthana (known as Gabbar on X), and Deepak Kumar, will continue to exist alongside Knot.Dating. The social media platform still appears active, with over one million downloads on Google Play and users still being able to post on the platform. This marks Hood’s second rebranding, having initially launched as Zorro.
