Ashley Madison Reports Rise in Discreet Dating Interest in India

Ashley Madison has released new data highlighting a rise in discreet dating activity in India, with the platform reporting increased sign-ups during May 2026. The findings suggest that interest in privacy-focused dating services is expanding beyond major metropolitan areas and reaching a broader range of cities across the country.

According to the company’s per-capita rankings, Kanchipuram emerged as the leading city for new sign-ups, followed by Coimbatore, Tiruvallur, and Chennai. South Indian cities accounted for four of the top five positions, indicating strong engagement from users in the region.

The platform also reported that India has moved from eighth to third place globally for membership sign-ups compared with the previous year. Ashley Madison, which focuses on facilitating private connections, said the growth reflects changing attitudes toward relationships, privacy, and personal autonomy among adults.

Paul Keable, the company’s Chief Strategy Officer, stated that the increase in activity demonstrates how interest in discreet dating is spreading across different parts of India rather than remaining concentrated in traditional urban centers. The data suggests that both established cities and emerging markets are contributing to the platform’s growth.

Relationship expert Dr. Tammy Nelson, who consults for Ashley Madison, noted that seasonal periods such as summer can encourage people to reflect on their emotional needs and relationship expectations. Such periods may lead some individuals to explore new connections or reassess existing relationship dynamics. However, the platform noted that the rankings are based solely on sign-up activity and should be viewed as an indicator of seasonal interest rather than long-term relationship outcomes or user success rates.
