Bluesky Expands to Long-Form Content with Standard.site Integration
Bluesky has introduced support for long-form content through a partnership with Standard.site, a community-driven project built on the AT Protocol. The update, released on May 28, 2026, allows users to discover articles, blog posts, and newsletters from other compatible apps within the Bluesky interface. Content initially appears as enhanced link previews, with plans for further improvements.
The integration gives Bluesky users access to publications from services such as Leaflet, pckt, and Offprint, which cater to independent writers and publishers. It follows Bluesky’s earlier collaboration with Germ for private messaging and aligns with WordPress’s recent plug-in that enables publishing to the AT Protocol ecosystem.
Bluesky, which has approximately 44.5 million registered users, is developing an open social web where content and data can be accessed across multiple compatible apps and personal data servers. This contrasts with more closed platforms like X, where long-form Articles are restricted to paid users and remain platform-specific.
The expansion reflects Bluesky’s strategy to evolve beyond short-form microblogging while maintaining its decentralized principles. Users can now engage with richer, more in-depth content without leaving the app, potentially increasing time spent and overall platform utility. For the dating app industry, this development illustrates growing interest in hybrid platforms that combine social networking with deeper content formats.
