Chinese Dating App Tantan Rebrands, Moves HQ to Singapore

Tantan, the China-based dating app, has established Singapore as its new global headquarters as part of a major international expansion and brand refresh. The company unveiled a new identity and positioning under the tagline “Date better” today on May 14th, aiming to emphasize more intentional, inclusive, and culturally aware dating experiences.

The rebrand seeks to broaden Tantan’s appeal beyond its core Asian user base while maintaining a focus on casual dating. Unlike platforms shifting heavily toward marriage-minded matchmaking, Tantan says it will continue supporting lighter connections but with greater emphasis on respect, honesty, and safety.

As part of the refresh, the app is rolling out product upgrades including a revamped user interface, improved trust and safety tools, and AI-powered features for better matching. It is also introducing community-driven discovery and culturally relevant elements, such as daily horoscope prompts inspired by Asian traditions. The company plans market-specific activations in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States.

Singapore was chosen as the new hub due to its digital maturity, progressive social environment, and strategic position as a regional gateway. Tantan says the move will help it better serve diverse users across APAC and globally. Tantan’s regional head for international markets, Willynn Ng, described the changes as more than cosmetic, calling it a redefinition of the platform’s role in fostering “authentic, secure and meaningful connections.”
