Dateability Sees Strong Growth as Disabled Daters Seek Inclusion
Dateability, a dating platform designed for people with disabilities and chronic health conditions, is seeing growing adoption as users look for alternatives to mainstream dating apps. The company has also expanded its accessibility, offering a browser version designed to accommodate users with visual impairments or limited manual dexterity – allowing it to reach an even wider audience.
Founded by sisters Jacqueline and Alexa Child during the Covid-19 pandemic, Dateability launched in 2022. The platform allows users to identify disabilities and chronic illnesses on their profiles, while also remaining open to people without disabilities.
The company says its user base has nearly doubled since 2025, reaching 65,000 users this month. The growth comes as some users report turning to the platform after difficult experiences on conventional dating services, including being ghosted after disclosing health conditions or finding potential partners unwilling to accommodate their needs.
For some users, the platform has provided a way to approach dating with fewer assumptions about disability. One couple cited in the New York Times matched on Dateability last Christmas Eve and have continued seeing each other regularly, despite living in different cities. Another user with a rare congenital condition struggled with matches losing inerest on other platforms once her health was brought up, eventually managing to find a partner on Datability.
Dateability’s growth comes against a broader backdrop of barriers to relationships faced by people with disabilities. Users interviewed for the article described concerns about stigma, disclosure and potential partners’ attitudes toward healthcare needs, fertility and independence. The increase in users suggests that there is sustained demand for a dating environment where disability can be disclosed without necessarily becoming an immediate barrier to connection – and with Datability being one of the only platforms to offer it, its user base has already increased twofold as a result.
