EliteSingles to Suddenly Shut Down on April 30
EliteSingles, a dating platform for educated singles, is shutting down permanently on April 30, 2026. Users received an email on April 28 informing them that their accounts, profiles, matches, and conversations will no longer be available after that date. The app’s website itself has been updated with a blunt message confirming the closure, and that new users are no longer being accepted.
The sudden closure gives users only a few days to save any important connections or move conversations off the platform. The announcement comes amid ongoing financial difficulties faced by its parent company, Spark Networks.
Spark Networks, which also owns Zoosk, SilverSingles, ChristianMingle, Jdate, and JSwipe, has been struggling for some time. The company entered preliminary insolvency proceedings in Germany earlier this year and later sought recognition of the case in U.S. bankruptcy court. In recent months, Spark has been attempting to restructure and sell assets while continuing day-to-day operations.
Despite significant upgrades to its platforms in recent years aimed at modernizing the user experience, EliteSingles has been unable to remain viable in an increasingly competitive market dominated by larger players like Match Group.
The shutdown of EliteSingles marks one of the most notable closures in the dating industry in recent years, especially due to how many other platforms operate under Spark Networks. While the email to users focused on the April 30 deadline, it remains unclear what will happen to Spark’s other niche dating platforms, particularly ChristianMingle and Jdate, which serve specific religious and cultural communities.
For current EliteSingles users, the immediate priority is to exchange contact information with any promising matches before the platform goes offline. Once the shutdown occurs, all user data and conversations on EliteSingles will be permanently deleted.
