Grindr Hosts White House Correspondents’ Dinner Event

Grindr is set to host its first official side event during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend on April 25, 2026. The private party, part of the broader “Nerd Prom” festivities, will bring together policymakers, journalists, and LGBTQ+ community leaders.

The company described the event as a celebration of the First Amendment and an opportunity to discuss issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, including HIV funding, privacy, online safety, and family rights. Joe Hack, Grindr’s Head of Global Government Affairs, emphasized that these topics are part of daily life for many users and that political differences should not prevent open dialogue.

This marks the first time a major queer-focused platform like Grindr has hosted such an event during a Trump administration. Grindr has positioned the party as an inclusive space for queer journalists and professionals who may feel underrepresented or unwelcome at other events during the weekend. The company noted that it aims to create a platform for honest reporting and free expression, regardless of the political climate.

While Grindr has long engaged in advocacy through its Grindr for Equality initiative (launched in 2015), some members of the LGBTQ+ community have criticized the decision. Critics argue that associating with the current administration is tone-deaf, especially given recent proposals to cut funding for HIV programs and other policies perceived as hostile to LGBTQ+ rights.
