In-Person Dating App ‘Greenlight’ Approaches Beta Launch Date

Greenlight, a new app designed to foster in-person social interactions, is nearing its beta launch. Created by Brian Davis and Mike Maglione, the app offers an alternative to traditional dating platforms by encouraging users to meet face-to-face rather than relying on messaging or profile matching.

Greenlight uses geolocation technology to allow users to check into specific public places, such as bars, coffee shops, or parks. This “check-in” signals their availability for real-world conversations, helping to create spontaneous connections. Davis explained, “Our goal is to promote genuine interactions in real-life settings, moving away from the reliance on online profiles and swiping.”

Safety is also a priority. Once a user leaves the location, the app automatically removes them from the check-in list, ensuring that interactions happen only within a defined area. This means that users can’t be tracked down if they accidentally forget to uncheck their availability, and ensures that users are only approached when they actually want to be.

Greenlight’s beta is set to launch by the end of the Fall season, which presumably means that it should be officially in the open testing phase by the end of November. The app will launch in Hoboken, New Jersey as its testing ground, then expand from there if it sees success.
