Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri Rules Out Plans for Dating Service
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has said the platform has no plans to introduce a dedicated dating service. Responding to a question on Instagram Stories, he said building one would involve considerable additional work.
“In some ways, Instagram is a dating service,” Mosseri said. He pointed out that people already find romantic connections through the platform. Replying to someone’s Story or sending a funny Reel can be an easy way to start a conversation. “We know a lot goes down in the DM,” he added.
Mosseri said Instagram is in a good position without dating profiles or swiping features. “People do use Instagram to help date,” he said, but the company has not built a formal dating service.
Facebook Dating has 21.5 million daily active users across 52 countries, according to figures released by Meta in November 2025. This includes 1.77 million users aged 18–29 in the US. The service has also introduced an AI dating assistant and Meet Cute, which offers users a surprise match each week.
