IRLY Co-Founder Launches AI-Driven Dating App ‘SlideIn’

Connor Rose, the co-founder and CEO of the video-focused dating app IRLY, has announced the debut of a new dating app, SlideIn, designed specifically for Gen Z users who are increasingly disillusioned with traditional online dating formats. The app launched this week with a limited waitlist of only 100 users and aims to rethink how people connect digitally.

Unlike conventional dating apps that rely on profiles, swipes, and pre-packaged conversation starters, SlideIn offers a minimalist approach. Users begin by answering a single question — “What’s your type?” — verbally after which the app’s AI matches them with someone it deems compatible based on their tone, energy, and other factors. There are no bios to scroll through, no swiping interfaces, and no artificial introductions, which Rose believes are key factors behind user fatigue.

In a statement posted online, Rose framed SlideIn as a response to widespread dissatisfaction with current dating apps, pointing to survey data suggesting that over 70% of Gen Z users find these platforms fake or performative. He also noted the market’s lack of innovation, dominated by a small number of major players. The idea of matches being so quick and free from added fluff is a clear response to the former issue, and may prove to be an effective dating tool if enough users enjoy the idea.

The move marks Rose’s latest venture following his work on IRLY, a dating platform launched in 2021 that emphasized video chats and interactive features like in-app games. IRLY gained traction for offering Gen Z users a more authentic, real-time experience and was seen as part of a broader pushback against curated online personas.

With only 100 initial invites being distributed this week through slidein.io, the app is positioning itself as an exclusive alternative to legacy dating platforms — one that leans into simplicity and real-time compatibility, rather than surface-level engagement. Whether or not it leaves the invite-only format and becomes fully public-facing likely depends on how successful the platform will be in the long term.
