LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky Steps Down to Focus on AI
LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky is transitioning out of his role after six years to take on a new position at parent company Microsoft focused on artificial intelligence development. Daniel Shapero, LinkedIn’s current Chief Operating Officer, will succeed him as CEO.
Roslansky assumed the CEO position in 2020, succeeding Jeff Weiner. During his tenure, LinkedIn expanded its advertising business and global reach. In recent years, he has increasingly concentrated on AI integration, including publishing a book on how artificial intelligence is expected to reshape the workforce.
In a statement, Roslansky explained that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had asked him last year to help lead efforts across LinkedIn and Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on AI. He noted that the opportunity to use AI to transform how people work and advance their careers has grown significantly, prompting the leadership change. Roslansky will now join Microsoft’s Office AI development team, where he will focus on expanding AI tools and features within Microsoft’s Office applications.
Daniel Shapero, who has been with LinkedIn since May 2008, brings extensive experience across sales, marketing, and product roles. Roslansky described Shapero as deeply familiar with LinkedIn’s members, customers, and overall mission. Shapero will continue reporting to Roslansky in the new structure.
The leadership transition is not expected to bring major strategic shifts to LinkedIn in the short term. Shapero’s long history with the company suggests continuity, particularly in advancing AI-related initiatives that Roslansky had already been championing.
