Match Group Deepens Ties with Kinsey Institute For Fundraising
Match Group is amplifying its support for sexual health research by offering a two-to-one matching initiative for donations made to the Kinsey Institute Research Fund throughout October. This means every dollar donated will effectively triple in impact during the fundraising window.
The Kinsey Institute, housed at Indiana University, is a leading academic center for the study of human sexuality, relationships, and gender dynamics. The institute has faced funding challenges since 2023, when a state funding cutoff forced it to lean more heavily on external contributions. Match Group has long collaborated with the institute through its Singles in America research partnership, supplying data and insights on trends in dating, intimacy, and user behavior.
Dr. Justin Garcia, Executive Director of the Kinsey Institute, framed the match program as a way to rapidly support explorations into evolving questions about relationships, identity, and technology. The funds raised during the campaign are earmarked for core research initiatives such as studies on sexual assault prevention, technology’s impact on intimacy, disability and sexual wellbeing, and archives that document historical and cultural sexuality research.
The matching drive is a limited offer, ending at the close of October. Those with a stake in one or both organizations are likely to be watching the outcome closely, both to assess the level of community support that the Institute is getting and to evaluate how closely-tied to the dating industry it actually is – and, in particular, how strong its ties to Match Group will be in the long term.
