Meta Tests Episodic Reels Feature on Facebook and Instagram
Meta is testing a new “Series” feature for Reels that allows creators to organize multiple videos into episodic collections. The tool, announced on June 2, 2026, is currently available to select creators and content producers who already publish serialized content on Instagram and Facebook.
With Series, creators can bundle new and existing Reels into a single storyline with a dedicated hub on their profile. This provides viewers with an easier way to follow ongoing series, such as tutorials, challenges, or story arcs, and to pick up where they left off. Episodes appear in a new tab on the creator’s profile, and users can save series for later viewing or receive updates when new episodes are added.
The feature is designed to encourage longer-term viewing habits rather than one-off consumption of short-form video. When users encounter an episode in their feed or the Reels tab, they can tap to access the full series. Meta noted that serialized content is already performing well on its platforms, and the new tool aims to simplify discovery and retention.
Meta is exploring monetization options for Series but has not released specific plans. TikTok introduced a similar feature in 2023, enabling creators to offer premium episodic content behind a paywall. Meta’s current implementation focuses primarily on organization and user experience. The test is limited in scope and will be expanded based on initial results, and is clearly an effort to compete with TikTok by enhancing long-form and serialized video capabilities.
