Former Hinge and Lex Exec Launches Astrology App Lora
Michelle Parsons, a former Hinge executive and co-founder of Lex, has launched Lora, a new social astrology app focused on relationships and compatibility.
Users can add partners, friends, crushes or situationships and compare their compatibility across 14 types of relationships. Lora also has an AI chatbot that uses birth charts to answer questions about dating, relationships and personal development. Users who want human advice can book astrologers, tarot readers and coaches through the app.
Parsons brings plenty of dating and consumer tech experience to the project. She worked at Hinge, Netflix and Spotify before co-founding LGBTQ+ social and dating platform Lex. She also advises dating app Beyond, founded by Eric Phillips Waldstein.
Lora has raised pre-seed funding from New York venture firm AlleyCorp. The app officially launched this month with an event in New York attended by founders, investors and people from the dating industry.
Astrology is also attracting attention from bigger tech players. Midjourney acquired Co–Star earlier this year. Lora takes a different route, bringing astrology, AI and human relationship advice into one product.
