Dating App After5.pm Launches in U.S. and Canada With Focus on IRL Meetups

After5.pm has launched in beta on iOS, offering an alternative to swiping by organizing small-group meetups at local venues. The dating app is starting in San Francisco and plans to expand city by city across the U.S. and Canada.

Every evening from 5 p.m., users can join nearby activities such as drinks or trivia with one tap. There is no swiping, matching or messaging beforehand. The meetups are designed for people looking for dates, new friends or simply a reason to go out.

After5.pm was founded by Alex Botteri, co-founder of cloud communications company Ring4, which was acquired by Inturact Capital in 2021. Botteri is self-funding the new venture.

The launch comes as more dating and social platforms experiment with bringing online connections into real-world settings. After5.pm takes that idea further by making the meetup, rather than the match, the core product.
