Model Derek Chadwick Announces Goose Gay Dating App
Derek Chadwick, a gay model and actor, has announced the development of Goose, a new dating app aimed at gay men. The platform is described as “social-first” and “anti-algorithm,” seeking to differentiate itself from apps like Grindr and Sniffies that are more associated with casual encounters.
Goose will require users to apply for membership, creating a curated community. Instead of swiping, users “wave” to show interest, and mutual waves establish a connection. The app plans to include a live map for proximity-based discovery and allow scrolling beyond local areas. Users will be able to upload photos, videos, and updates rather than relying on rigid profile declarations. Features such as disappearing chats and screenshot protection are also mentioned, though details are still limited.
Chadwick posted about the app on Instagram, noting a desire for better gay dating options in 2026. The Goose Instagram account, launched recently, has already gained over 12,500 followers. A promotional event in New York City featured presentations, oysters, cocktails, and branded merchandise.
The announcement comes shortly after Match Group’s decision to shut down its Archer app and invest $100 million in Sniffies – and while the timing may be coincidental, it could have left a gap in the market that Goose would be ideal to fill.
