Seeking.com Implements New Measures to Expose Scammers

Seeking.com has announced an enhanced anti-fraud initiative that includes publicly displaying images of scammers caught during verification processes.

The luxury dating platform uses AI-assisted selfie verification and behavioral analysis to identify fraudulent accounts before they can contact members. According to the company, more than 90% of detected scammers are blocked prior to messaging users. The new approach involves showcasing caught scammers as a demonstration of the frequency of fraud attempts and to pressure the broader industry to strengthen protections.

Seeking co-CEO Brandon Wade described romance scams as a solvable problem that platforms should address more proactively. The company argues that modern AI tools make early detection feasible when safety is prioritized.

Romance scams continue to cause significant financial losses. The Federal Trade Commission reported $1.14 billion in losses in 2023, with figures continuing to rise as scammers employ AI-generated profiles, deepfakes, and sophisticated social engineering.

Seeking’s platform requires verification for new members and analyzes patterns associated with fraudulent activity. The company has shifted away from its earlier sugar dating model and now focuses on intentional relationships with verified identities and clear expectations.

The initiative comes amid growing user frustration with dating apps. Other dating platforms have faced criticism for reactive rather than proactive fraud prevention, often relying on user reports to remove fake accounts. Seeking’s decision to publicly highlight caught scammers represents a more aggressive stance, or at least one that’s more visibly effective to its user base.
