Sisters Behind Dating App ‘So Syncd’ Relaunch with Personality Tests
Just a month after closing the curtains on the So Syncd dating app, its founders – sisters Jessica and Louella Alderson – have announced ‘So Syncd 2.0’ and marked a strategic shift towards personality testing in personal growth.
The So Syncd dating app shut down in May. Citing a desire to do more to improve the quality of connections, founding partner Jessica Alderson said in a Facebook post: “As a recent The School of Life post stated, dating apps have made it infinitely easier to connect, but they haven’t helped us become more patient, forgiving and empathetic. While we still believe in the immense power of dating apps for good, we feel there is a lot of work to be done to improve the quality of connections.”
Jessica continued: “Our mission has always been to help people find meaningful connections, and that remains unchanged. It’s just that the way we go about it will be different from now on. As well as publishing articles and social media content, we will also be creating courses and other resources designed to help people understand themselves on a deeper level and improve their relationships.”
The So Syncd dating app quickly gained momentum after launching in 2020, matching potential partners based on the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types. According to Jessica, the app saw more than 5,700 people find partners before closing.
So Syncd 2.0 sees the original team behind the dating app of old, with a focus shifted towards personal development and a “dive into the intricacies of your character by discovering your personality type.” The newly-launched So Syncd will focus on delivering content around dating, personality type and personal growth, centred around the theme of “understanding yourself, love and relationships”
