Snapchat Launches Creator Subscriptions in the US

Snapchat is introducing a new way for creators to monetize their content directly through fan subscriptions. Announced on February 17, 2026, the Creator Subscriptions feature begins alpha testing in the United States on February 23, starting with a select group of creators.Users can subscribe to participating creators – including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson – to access exclusive perks. Benefits include subscriber-only Snaps and Stories, priority replies to a creator’s public Stories, and an ad-free experience when viewing that creator’s content.

This builds on Snapchat’s existing tools, such as the Unified Monetization Program and Snap Star Collab Studio, by adding a premium, recurring revenue layer tied to how users already interact via Stories, Chat, and replies.Creators have flexibility in pricing: they set their own monthly rates, with Snap recommending tier options reportedly ranging from $4.99 to $19.99. After platform fees, creators keep approximately 60% of the revenue. The company provides performance data to help optimize pricing as the program evolves.

The rollout starts on iOS devices in supported U.S. markets, with expansion planned to more users, creators, and devices (including Android) in the coming weeks. Snapchat aims to extend the feature to additional Snap Stars in Canada, the U.K., and France soon after the initial U.S. test. The feature mirrors subscription models on rival platforms like Instagram and Facebook, where creators offer exclusive content and fan perks.

In its Q4 2025 earnings, Snap reported 946 million global monthly active users – a 6% year-over-year increase – and noted significant engagement gains, including a 47% rise in U.S. Spotlight posters. If even 1% of all users subscribed to a creator, that would be over 9 million active subscriptions across the platform.
