TikTok Highlights Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

TikTok is showcasing selected creators as part of its annual celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Heritage Month. The platform has chosen ten creators from diverse backgrounds and content genres to feature prominently throughout May 2026.

The selected creators will appear in themed promotions across the app, with additional in-app activations planned. TikTok will spotlight them via its official @TikTokCreators account, while encouraging broader community participation through the #APITikTok hashtag.

In its announcement, TikTok noted that the #APITikTok community reflects the multifaceted nature of API identity, describing it as “joyful, powerful, creative, and never just one story.” The company said it aims to highlight creators and small business owners who use the platform to educate, entertain, and share their experiences.

This annual initiative has become a consistent part of TikTok’s diversity and community engagement efforts. The platform has positioned itself as a key space for minority voices to gain visibility and build audiences, particularly for creators who may not find the same level of support on other social networks.

In addition to creator spotlights, TikTok is promoting content from and engagement with API-owned small businesses. Users are being encouraged to discover related videos, experiences, and shops within the app.

Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month observances on TikTok typically include a mix of educational content, cultural celebrations, personal stories, and entertainment. The platform’s algorithm often boosts participation in these campaigns, helping trending hashtags and featured creators reach wider audiences.
