WSL Partners with SURF Dating App for US Open of Surfing

The World Surf League (WSL) has announced a partnership with SURF, a dating app focused on shared lifestyles, as the official dating partner for the Lexus US Open of Surfing. The event is scheduled for July 25 to August 2 in Huntington Beach, California.

The collaboration allows users of the SURF app to add a WSL tag to their profiles, enabling them to connect with others who share an interest in surfing as both a sport and lifestyle. SURF aims to facilitate more intentional connections by prioritizing common passions rather than traditional swipe mechanics. Users can apply personalized filters to find matches within the surfing community.

SURF offers free personalized filters for interests such as backpacking, festivals, Pilates, and now surfing through the WSL affiliation. The app positions itself as an alternative to swipe-heavy platforms by emphasizing shared values and experiences.

Nicole Metzger, WSL Chief Revenue Officer, stated that the partnership aligns with the strong community spirit at the US Open. “We love how SURF focuses on shared passions and real connections,” she said. “We are excited for SURF to help facilitate these new connections for fans during one of our biggest events of the year.”
