FROM THE WEB: ‘Online dating and Tinder: Tech isn’t the problem, it’s the predators using it’ The Guardian

A new Guardian article by Elle Hunt takes task with a recent episode of Hack Live about the potential dangers of online dating.

The episode, presented by Tom Tilley, looked at “how we hook up in the 21st century”, presenting a roundtable discussion with a selection of dating commentators.

In addition to revealing that 15% of the Australian population uses Tinder, up from 5% in 2014, the episode delves into some of the potential dangers and problems that come with online dating, especially for women.

Writing in the Guardian, Hunt argues against this, saying that “it’s not the technology itself that poses the risk, it’s the predators using it — and in the absence of dating apps, they will find a way.”
