Watch Our Video Interview With Dating Fraud Security Experts Scamalytics

Scamalytics

For our latest video interview we spoke to the creators of the largest fraud database dedicated to the online dating industry.

Scamalytics’ tech incorporates machine learning, real-time detection, text pattern analysis and image recognition, using this combined data to build the industry’s largest shared scammer blacklist of profile and network data.

As co-founder Dan Winchester explains: “Scamalytics takes in data across a network of dating sites and dating apps. We analyse that data, get feedback as to who within that data are the scammers and who aren’t, and then use that information to build models, which we can then use to predict whether a new user is likely to be a scammer or not, based on previous users.”

And the well-known UK company is now on a mission to grow its partner database, which currently sits at around 12 large dating providers, many of which run thousands of sites, such as Venntro & Cupid Media.

The co-founders of the company, Dan Winchester & Nick Tsinonis, tell us about how scammers target platforms with weak defences, spreading the word amongst other cybercriminals, how the volume of dating fraud has increased, as well as offering some tips on how sites can work to minimise the threat of scammers.
