Chinese Stranger-Calling App Just Raised $15m

A Chinese dating app that lets you call strangers in your area has received $15m in funding.

Users of Inbilin scroll through profiles of nearby people, which they can filter by gender.

Profiles include basic information and a few photos, and if you want to speak, you must send a written request.

If the person accepts, you have a 24 hour window to call them, all for free online.

And the dating platform has just received $15m in series A funding from Qiming Venture Partners and Morningside Ventures.

According to Chinese blog 36Kr, Inbilin already has a massive 20m registered users, and has seen 10m minutes of calls, since their launch in May 2013.

Of these users, 35% are female, with the majority coming from the 17-25 age bracket.
