Charm App Mixes Tinder and Vine

Charm

American social media company MeetMe has launched a new video dating app called Charm.

Taking inspiration from the latest craze of video apps like Vine, Charm lets users upload short clips of themselves and matches via location.

Catherine Cook, co-founder and vice president of brand strategy at MeetMe said: “A major benefit of the video approach to dating is that it doesn’t reduce people to just a profile photo.”

She also says it removes the worry of old profile pictures no longer being a true representation of the individual.

The length of videos uploaded on Charm varies between three and ten seconds, and users can post up to four videos at any one time.

Much like Vine, you record a video by holding your finger down on the screen, and videos are looped.

And if you like a person’s video, and they like yours in return, you are both connected – just like Tinder.

Charm does seem like it is marketing itself towards users of both Tinder and Vine – their promo video featuring amusing videos rather than serious profiles.
