Hellotel is a new app for travellers that connects you with people staying in the same hotel.
Logging in via Facebook, users check-in to the hotel they are staying, and are shown other users who are in the same hotel, or those nearby.
Billed as “the travellers’ social network”, you also select whether you are there for socialising or business.
You then interact through private messages, and can post pictures or public status updates to see if anyone wants to meet up.
On the 2nd of October, HelloTel signed a deal to be included in the MLB 2014 program guide.
They said: “Attendance records for playoff games involve a high demographic of travellers who will be staying in hotels after the game.
“This placement will ensure organic virality of our app and will complement our “cost per install” app download campaigns that will be hitting full stride during this time.”
The app was founded by CEO Marc Preston, owner of Social Media 180, an application and web development agency from California.
