Instagram Hits 600m MAUs, Adding 100m In Six Months
It has been a strong year for Instagram, the photo-sharing platform hitting 600m users as the end of the year approaches.
Most impressive is that Instagram has added 100m users in the past six months, a period where it rolled out a series of big updates.
This figure is also double its MAU total from 2014.
The updates to the product included the Snapchat-inspired Stories features, which lets users post a series of photos and videos that are stitched together in a slideshow “story” format.
More recently, Instagram introduced live video streaming and another Snapchat-style feature – disappearing private photo and video messages.
Speaking at the latest milestone on its blog, Instagram said: “A lot has changed this year, but the Instagram community and the diversity of expression it provides has remained consistent. And you now have more ways to share than ever before with Instagram Stories, live video and disappearing photos and videos in Direct.
“Additionally, with updated safety tools that give you more control over comments and other parts of your experience, we’re working to make Instagram safer than ever for connection and self-expression.”
