Take This Test To Find Who Your Closest Facebook Friends Are

okcupidfacebooktest

OkCupid’s Christian Rudder and his team have created a web app that ranks which friends are most mathematically important to your life.

The online test uses the formula from a 2013 research paper by Facebook’s Lars Backstrom and Jon Klienberg from Cornell University, which looks at the structural roles of significant people in your online social networks.

Housed on Rudder’s site Dataclysm.org, the app visualises your entire Facebook network, ranking your friends by how central they are to you.

And Rudder says the graph also tells you something about your love life: “If you’re currently dating someone or married: research has shown that romantic relationships are more durable when a couple are each other’s highest scorers according to the formula the app will apply.”

Go here to take the test, and read the research paper Romantic Partnerships and the Dispersion of Social Ties.
