Fraud Detection Company BeehiveID Win Silicon Valley IBM Award

Fraud detection company BeehiveID has won the People’s Choice award at the Silicon Valley IBM Smart Camp competition.

Beehive ID identifies fraudulent accounts by recognising behavioural patterns on social sites.

Their software can be implemented for use with online dating profiles, peer-to-peer networks and ecommerce companies.

And the Austin-based company has been recognised at the North America Regional IBM Smart Camp competition in San Francisco, winning the People’s Choice award.

Their detection methods include using their “revolutionary Social Authentication Technology along with proven anti-fraud detection mechanisms such as IP detection, geo-location, and browser fingerprinting.”

Mary Haskett, the CEO of BeehiveID has a background working in building large scale identification systems for the Department of Defense, and used this experience to create the company in July last year.
