Lovestruck and Guardian Soulmates Win Top Prizes at UK Dating Awards
Lovestruck and Guardian Soulmates were the big winners at the UK Dating Awards last night.
The event, created by Charly Lester, was held at the Honourable Artillery Company’s Prince Consort Rooms in London.
Hosted by Channel 4 presenter Rick Edwards, the event celebrated the best in UK-based online dating, events, bloggers and matchmakers.
There were 26 categories, each award judged by a panel of industry experts from various corners of the industry.
Lovestruck came away with two of the biggest awards of the night – winning Dating Website of the Year and Dating App of the Year.
They beat the three highly commended sites Guardian Soulmates, Smooch and Toyboy Warehouse, along with Just Singles, Telegraph Dating and Zoosk.
The London-based company founded by Brett Harding and Laurence Holloway also won Best Singles Party.
Guardian Soulmates won Daters’ Favourite Website and Best Dating Related Advert.
Although not present, Tinder were awarded an honorary Trailblazer award, for “the dramatic effect which the application has had on the dating industry over the past 18 months.”
Other winners were London startup TrueView, who won Newcomer App of the Year and Christian Connection, who were awarded Religious Dating Site of the Year.
Newcomer Website of the Year was given to Inner Circle, who also came away with Best London Dating Event.
Dating entrepreneur of the year was given to Toyboy Warehouse’s Mike Bandar and James Vardy.
