The people search engine Spokeo has closed out 2014 with its most profitable year, as an increasing number use the site to research their online dates.
The Californian company has seen a 159% increase in revenue since 2012.
They have also doubled their team at the Pasadena headquarters to over 150.
This year, Spokeo identified a growing trend of their users accessing the search engine to research their online dates.
A Harris poll last September said around 71% percent of adults are willing to search their dates to make them feel safer.
Their growth also saw them listed 22nd in the Fastest Growing Private Companies of 2014 by Los Angeles Business Journal.
Harrison Tang, the CEO and co-founder of Spokeo said: “When we launched Spokeo there was no simple, yet comprehensive tool empowering individuals with easy access to people data.
“Our growth shows the strong demand for direct access to information about people. The existing large search engines have failed to make this information accessible to consumers, which is why millions of users need our service to fill this critical void.”
