SNAP Interactive’s single-ranking dating app The Grade has announced it has hired the “most ‘popular’ woman in online dating” to be its new brand ambassador.

The New York-based app has recruited makeup artist and author Lauren Urasek to help promote the app.

Last year, Urasek was named the most sought-after woman on OkCupid in New York City by New York Magazine.

In addition to her role as ambassador, she will also serve as the inaugural member of The Grade’s advisory board.

Speaking about her new role, Urasek said: “The Grade is such an innovator in improving online dating, and I’m excited and honored to be joining in this effort.

“It’s a priority to me to empower single women, and The Grade’s concepts of accountability and #NoMoreCreeps align directly with my passions. Together, I know we can greatly improve the face of online dating for women everywhere.”

Following her success on Tumblr, the 25-year-old science enthusiast launched her first book this month, titled Popular: The Ups and Downs of Online Dating from the Most Popular Girl in New York City.

Cliff Lerner, founder of The Grade said: “We couldn’t have found a better fit for a brand ambassador than Lauren.

“As the most ‘popular’ woman in online dating, she will serve as a vital resource for The Grade, using her personal experiences to advise us in all areas, from new features to partnerships, and help us to achieve our goals of improving the standards for mobile dating.”

Earlier this week, the app’s parent company, SNAP Interactive announced a reshuffle in its management team, with former CFO Alex Harrington replacing Lerner as head of the company.

Lerner, who created SNAP with brother Darrell in 2005, will now take on the new role of President of The Grade.

According to the co-founder, the change is part of a new strategy to help SNAP unlock shareholder value.

The Grade is available to download for free on the App Store.
