Badoo has just announced it is adding a new video feature option to its profiles, as a way for its users to understand the personality traits and interests of their potential matches.
The network’s new video-in-profile feature lets users upload 15 second-long video clips directly from any iOS or Android smartphone, which it says will allow them to evaluate prospective connections using more than just a few profile photos.
Not only does the option help individuals looking for matches on the platform, it also gives users the opportunity to showcase their personalities, in a way they can’t do in a still photo.
And to prevent any inappropriate video content from being shared on the app, the UK-based company employs 5,000 moderators who will assess each video before it goes live on the app.
Speaking about the new feature, Badoo spokesperson Joey Hadfield said: “With the addition of video, daters can get creative and show off their sense of humour, their wonderfully sophisticated British accent, tennis skills, or even their twerking skills.
“When you go on a date, you know within seconds if you like a person’s energy, and if you don’t, you’re still stuck there all night. Video gives you a much better feel for who people are before you agree to meet them.”
Badoo is currently one of the largest dating networks worldwide, claiming a vast user base of 300m in over 190 countries, with 9m users in the UK alone.
This year, Badoo became the first dating company to hit the milestone of 100m downloads on its Android platform, while also introducing a photo verification feature in an effort to eradicate fake profiles and make members feel safer when using the service.
