Michael Blakeley and Matthew Milner, founders of the London-based dating app CLiKD, have created a new startup accelerator specifically for the online dating sector.
The ‘Global Dating Accelerator’ (GDA) is prepared to help entrepreneurs around the world grow their unique and innovative dating products. A variety of different resources are on offer to make every stage of the process a little bit easier.
Members of the GDA receive over £500,000 worth of savings on essential services, such as cloud hosting and software tools. This includes discounts on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, App Radar and SEM Rush.
They also benefit from regular workshops and networking events, as well as being part of a growing network which presents numerous new connections and cross-promotion opportunities.
Several industry and startup experts have joined the project as mentors, including James Peng, a former Head of Social Acquisition at Match Group, and marketing consultant Karen Forbes.
The GDA has set a target of helping over 200 million people start relationships through dating apps associated with the programme.
Milner explained in a press release: “The dating app world has been saturated by the now larger apps dominated by the Match Group name.
“The likes of Tinder, Hinge and Match.com itself have become huge businesses that have lost touch with their customers who are tired of standard app formats, something which the Global Dating Accelerator is looking to fix.”
The team behind CLiKD launched a dating information website earlier this year. BestDating.Info wants to help its audience by providing them with advice on how to have the best first date, how to navigate modern life as a single person, and how to work through a breakup.
