‘Conversations on Consent’ Initiative Introduced on Tinder India

Tinder has introduced a new initiative that is designed to get new couples talking about consent as soon and as honestly as possible.

The dating app’s Indian team has partnered with Yuvaa and Pink Legal to offer an interactive resource centre, ‘Let’s Talk Consent’, built by subject matter experts. The website will also be followed up with powerful personal anecdotes and stories by advocates across the next few weeks on Tinder’s social channels.

The pandemic has encouraged a number of conversations surrounding consent in relationships, with terms like ‘consent’ and ‘boundaries’ being used in bios more than ever before.

A global survey by Tinder last years highlighted Gen Z felt consent was a topic that needed more conversations within society.

Taru Kapoor, GM, Tinder & Match Group, India, told Media Brief: “Consent is key in all interpersonal relationships. As the largest dating app foundationally built on consent, we intend to be a strong ally in promoting the need to have an open, honest and compassionate conversation.

“This initiative builds on the safety products and resources that are available on Tinder and reaches out to the community with a mission to build a safer dating culture and a respectful member ecosystem  with a conversation series.”

Tinder’s new initiative is a step forward to educate and normalise conversations in the community around understanding consent, appreciating personal boundaries and challenging assumptions.
