Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), hinted that the platform would introduce “fully fledged” dating features in 2024. During a company-wide meeting last week, Musk mentioned several product changes that employees can expect in the year ahead.
Business Insider spoke with two individuals who were on the call in a new report. Musk told X employees that dating features and digital banking tools are on the horizon for the platform.
These features would be part of new revenue streams for the platform, as Musk pushes for features which require payment / subscription, the report shares. This is just one step in Musk’s ultimate ambition to turn X into an “everything app” with many paid features, it continues.
In May 2023, Elon Musk described the prospect of adding dating to Twitter as “interesting”. Part of his motivations could be his concern for population decline, where he has previously cited low birth rates as “a bigger risk to civilization” than global warming.
