Messenger Updates Make it Easier to Find and Create ‘Rooms’

Facebook Messenger has announced updates which are designed to make it easier to find and create ‘Rooms’, its video group chat update that is designed to compete with Zoom.

The social media giant announced the updates to the new feature in order to make it more straightforward for users to find, create, personalise, and partake in calls.

Facebook has realised that users might be having some difficulty in finding their Rooms, and has thus announced a new feature where Messenger mobile will now show all the rooms that they’ve been invited to in their inbox.

Moreover, it will also make it easier to create new rooms by placing the option at the centre of the Chats tab.

In addition to this, the latest update will allow users to “personalise their rooms”. Using a new feature, users will be able to add their own 360-degree spanning backgrounds to Rooms, including their own photos and videos.

Rooms was already offering AR effects like 360-degree backgrounds and mood lighting filters, and this new addition will add an extra touch of personalisation.

Messenger rooms provides free group video calling services for up to 50 people without any time limit. Facebook launched Messenger rooms in May.
