Facebook is adding a host of music-related features to its platform, including the ability to add songs to profiles.
Music can be added to stories, which are beginning to overtake the newsfeed for user generated content.
Users will also be able to lip sync to on-screen lyrics on songs including Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” and Khalid’s “Better”.
On profiles, songs will appear below a user’s photo. Clicking on the song will play a sample with an accompanying video, and visitors will also have the option to click through to the artist’s page.

Facebook said: “Moments are remembered and accentuated with music, and we can’t wait to see all the ways people around the world get creative with these features, make memories, and have fun with friends and family.”
The features may be a bid to win back iGen, with only 5% of that demographic listing Facebook as their favourite social media site.
The company has also announced a redesign of Messenger, one which focuses on simplicity.
Messenger stories are less prominent, the layout is less cluttered, and a ‘Dark Mode’ for nighttime use is a planned addition.
